Leigh Miners are on the road again on Saturday when they travel to North Yorkshire to take on York Acorn in Round 13 of the NCL Kingstone Press Cider Premier Division, Kick off 2-30pm at Thanet Road.

Miners travel to York looking to bounce straight back from last week’s 32-18 defeat away at West Hull, after starting strongly in the opening twenty minutes or so where it looked like Miners would be comfortable winners they started to go away from what was serving them well and this allowed West Hull back into the game before the break. The second half belonging to West Hull with them playing very well and dominating the game to take a well deserved 32-18 victory, which was very disappointing for Miners as they dropped down to third in the table and are now four points behind leaders Siddal.

The players know if they are to return to winning ways this weekend, they are going to have to toughen up in the forwards, control the ruck much better in defence and offer much more all across the board with ball in hand.

Coach Allan Coleman makes three changes from last weekend with Tom Farrimond, Andrew Groves and youngster Jordan Hellam who this week signed from across the canal replacing Joe Digby (u18s), Ian Mort (work) and Jimmy Muir (injured).

York Acorn are next to bottom in the league and have won two of their eleven games so far this season, if the Corn are to have any chances of avoiding dropping straight back into Division One they are going to have to string a good run of wins together in the second half of the season.

Leigh Miners second team are away on Saturday against Bury Broncos in the quarter final of the NWML Trophy.

The u18s have a free weekend.

Leigh Miners Ladies are away on Sunday against Oulton Raidettes in a group 2 Super 6 fixture.
