Leigh Miners make the short trip across the borough on Wednesday night in their penultimate game of the regular season to take on local rivals Wigan St Pats in a rearranged NCL Round 25 fixture after the original game scheduled for Saturday 6th October was postponed with St Pats having six (4 players 2 coaches) away on the England Community Lions tour to Canada, Kick off 8pm at Clarington Park.

It’s a massive game for both clubs with both needing the win to help clinch a playoff spot, a victory for Miners would move them up to fourth and guarantee them a playoff spot while victory for St Pats would keep them in the hunt for a place in the six with one league game remaining.

Miners will be looking to bounce straight back from Saturday’s 19-10 defeat away at league leaders Myton Warriors, their first since the middle of July with a strong performance against the Wigan outfit. A host of players are available for selection again after missing the Myton game, Ross Bradley Tom Farrimond Aaron Gorton Kev Howells Sean Pendlebury and Jonny Youds will all be hoping for a return into the match day seventeen. Liam Coleman Danny Jackson Shaun Marsh and John Woods miss the game through injury along with Martin Lewis who is away on holiday.

Miners old boy Ryan Smith should feature for the first time against his old club after missing the game at Twist Lane back in June through injury.
