2012 Summer Season Fixtures Announced
Miners Rangers’ first team fixtures for the inaugural 2012 Premier Division summer season were released today. After the phoney war of the interim season it’s back to business as the season kicks off on Saturday 3rd March. Miners start on the road with a trip to Hull Dockers, and will be hoping for a repeat of the last time they travelled to the Willows to open a season, back in 2007-8 when they went on the lif t the Minor Premiership and contest the Grand Final. The Challenge Cup second round intervenes on 10th March before the first home game against Ince Rose Bridge, a team Miners are scheduled to face in a pre-season friendly on 18th February, on 17th March.
Other fixtures that will catch the eye are the Leigh derbies against East, with Miners travelling to the Sports Village on Easter Tuesday, 10th April, and hosting their local rivals on Friday August 3rd. The Wigan derby against St Patricks is at Twist Lane on 9th June with the return game on October 6th. The league season ends the following weekend with a first ever trip to Myton Warriors, before the play-off series commences. There is also the Tier 3 cup competition to be factored in over the course of the season.
