Leigh Miners will start their second defence of the Conference Challenge Trophy on Saturday when they travel to Yorkshire to take on Bradford Dudley Hill in the second round, Kick off 2-30pm at The Neil Hunt Memorial Ground. Miners come into the competition at the last sixteen stage after receiving a bye in round 1 with their opponents East Hull dropping out of the NCL.

Miners travel over the Pennines on the back of a rusty 36-24 home victory against Egremont Rangers last weekend, after not playing for three weeks previous to the Egremont game Miners where off the boil in both attack and defence last week and it is something they will be looking to fix up quick ahead of a massive cup game for the club. In attack Miners will be looking to execute their plays alot better and be much more fluent and sharper when they have got the ball in hand, while in defence the lads know they need to be much tougher in their contact and collision and show alot more eagerness to get off their line and defend.

The players will go into the game with the same attitude and desire that they showed last year to the Conference Challenge Trophy with them determined to be at the finals day again in October and keep hold of their crown for a third successive year, like last year whoever Miners face in this competition, the lads know they are going to have to be fully prepared and focused for the task ahead with the opposition raising their game, wanting to be the side that knock the holders out.

Coaches Allan Coleman & Paul Whitworth will make two changes from last week, with Sean MacDonald replacing young winger Jake Waterworth in the side along with Matt Astley who comes in for Chris Bower in the pack.

Bradford Dudley Hill will go into Saturdays game full of confidence after a big 54-6 home victory last weekend against second placed Elland, a win which was their fifth in a row and moved them within two points of the second place promotion spot in Division Two. Dudley Hill beat Division One side Saddleworth Rangers 20-18 away in Round 1 and having recently been boosted with the return of England international Nathan Kitson from Hunslet Warriors, along with having former Super League player Dave Halley at full back the Bradford outfit will be confident of causing the upset of the round by knocking out the holders.
