Leigh Miners welcome Hunslet Warriors to Twist Lane for the second time this year on Saturday when they meet in Round 6 of the NCL Kingstone Press Cider Premier Division, Kick off 2-30pm. The first meeting being at the beginning of February in the first round of the Tetley’s Challenge Cup when Miners edged the tight cup tie 12-10.

Miners go into Saturdays game freshened up after having a free week last weekend which gave the lads a chance to rest up and get over any bumps and bruises picked up in the opening couple of months of the season. The attitude will again be the same for Miners with them knowing they need to respect the ball more after again at Skirlaugh they was guilty of turning the ball over to easily especially in the first half where they was under the cosh defending way to much than they would of liked. Despite avoiding defeat after producing a much better second half performance to draw the game 24-24 it was still slightly disappointing not to come home with the two points when the game really was there for the taking. The lads are confident that if they can get through their sets they can pick up a third home win of the season but they will definitely not be taking anything for granted against a good Hunslet Warriors side who are still finding there feet with life in the top flight.

Coaches Coleman & Paul Whitworth will have to make a host of changes to the side this week with Danny Jackson Danny Jones Sean MacDonald and Adam Thomason all away on Jonny Carroll’s stag doo along with Aaron Gorton Andrew Groves and Jonny Youds who are all away for the weekend and Darryl Kay who misses the game through injury. Coming into the side are Matt Campbell Tom Farrimond Lee Gittins Jimmy Muir Mark Nicholson and Jack Probert.

Hunslet Warriors travel to Lancashire with one with from their six league games so far this season to leave them in twelve position on the league ladder, that win coming in Round three when they beat Skirlaugh 22-10 at home.
