Leigh Miners attentions turn to the cup on Saturday when they make the short trip over the canal to take on local rivals Leigh East in the second round of the Conference Challenge Cup, Kick off 2-30pm at Ledgard Avenue. Miners go into the game on the back of two successive league wins which has seen them jump up to fourth but  know come derby day they will start underdogs having lost the last four “Street Of Origin’s” against East. It’s a run they are eager to end as they go looking for a place in the last eight of the competition.
