Leigh Miners entertain Lock Lane on Saturday in Round 11 of the NCL Kingstone Press Cider Premier Division, Kick off 2-30pm at Twist Lane. The first team game being the second match of the afternoon with the 2nd team playing before against Wigan St Pats in the semi final of the North West Men’s League Trophy, Kick off 12-30pm.

Miners go into Saturdays game on the back of a 30-10 away defeat at East Leeds two weeks ago in what was a poor performance throughout against a hungrier Easts side who moved above Miners in the table after that victory into 5th while Miners dropped to 6th. The lads know they will need to be on the ball this week against a very good Lock Lane side if they are to keep there unbeaten home record intact, with big improvement needed in both attack and defence after being off the pace at East Leeds. In attack Miners will again have to respect the ball more and be far more creative than they was in Leeds, while in defence they will have to be much tougher against a free scoring Lock Lane side who have posted just short of 200 points in their last five games.

Coaches Allan Coleman & Paul Whitworth will make five changes from Miners last outing, with Darryl Appleby (2nd team) Matt Campbell (coaching course) Danny Jones (injured) Mathew Meaden (Stag doo) and Jack Probert (injured) all not playing. Coming into the side are prop Chris Bower who returns to the club after a spell out of the game, Ellis Grimes Danny Jackson  James Muir and Scott Travis.

Lock Lane are again having a very good season in the top flight winning 7 of there 9 games played to leave them in second place hot on the tails of leaders Siddal. The Castleford outfit have showed no signs of second season syndrome, continuing from where they left off looking to build on last years excellent 3rd place finish. They travel to Leigh on the back of five successive victories and will be confident of making it six to complete a league double over Miners for a second successive year having already beaten them 35-24 in Round 3.
