Leigh Miners make the trip over the Pennines to Halifax on Saturday to take on Siddal in Round 19 of the NCL Kingstone Press Cider Premier Division, Kick off 2-30pm at Reactiv Park.

Miners travel up the M62 having bounced straight back from their Conference Challenge Trophy exit with a hard fought 28-26 home victory against Thatto Heath Crusaders last weekend, the narrow win moving Miners up into fourth position on 23 points two points behind current leaders Lock Lane. Chevinedge has been an unhappy hunting ground in recent years for Miners with the last victory coming in the 2006/2007 season in a side that contained former Twist Lane favourites Chris Humphrey Dave Paterson and Simon Warhurst to name but a few. The lads are determined to end this bad run on Saturday as they know victory would move them one point above Siddal who currently sit in second, before they have two free weekends due to the Challenge Cup final next week and what would have been a league fixture against the now disbanded East Hull the week after.

Coach Allan Coleman will be forced into making three changes from the Thatto Heath game with Leon Brennan out injured and youngsters Mark Nicholson and Charles Tyson both being away for the weekend. Coming into the side are Jimmy Muir and Gareth Payne, with the final bench spot still to be named.

Siddal go into Saturdays clash having been knocked off top spot last week, when they went down late on 34-30 against Lock Lane. The Halifax outfit have only won one of their last five matches but will see a home game against Miners as a good chance to get back to winning ways and stay in the battle for the minor premiership. When the two sides met in Round 2, Miners come home strong in the final quarter at Twist Lane to win 24-17.

Leigh Miners 2nd team now have a free weekend, with Accrington Panthers unable to raise a team.

Leigh Miners Ladies travel to Yorkshire again on Sunday to take on Stanningley in the league.
