Leigh Miners play their first home league match of the season on Saturday when they take on Siddal in Round Two of the Kingstone Press Cider NCL Premier Division, Kick off 2-30pm at Twist Lane.

Miners will be looking to pick up their first points of the season this weekend after being beaten at Thatto Heath Crusaders last week in a game which they led until after the hour mark before being starved of possession in the final quarter to end up losing 25-18. Despite being disappointed with the end result it was an encouraging performance from the lads who where in control for good parts of the game, they will be now be looking to keep building on each performance in the coming weeks with the new players getting more and more use to the systems miners play, they are confident they will start picking up the victories.

Coaches Allan Coleman and Paul Whitworth make one change from last weekend with Jonny Youds coming in for the injured Matt Astley.

Siddal make the trip to Leigh on the back of a Round One 26-18 home victory against Lock Lane last weekend with England Community Lions captain Shaun Garrod being influential for the Halifax men picking up the man of the match award. The Chevinedge outfit have arguably been the most consistent side in the NCL over the last decade or so with them appearing in five Grand Finals winning three of them, year after year being up there challenging for the title being in the top six and it would take a brave man to bet against them doing the same again this year.
