Leigh Miners make their first trip of the season to Humberside on Saturday when they take on Skirlaugh in Round 5 of the NCL Kingstone Press Cider Premier Division, Kick off 2-30pm at Eastside Community Sports Club.

Miners travel to Hull in a confident mood having had a very good win against East Leeds last weekend, winning 32-8 in what was a dominant performance with Miners having a high completion rate particularly in the first half where they run in twenty six unanswered points despite the terrible weather conditions and where turning the ball over in the right areas of the field throughout. In defence despite  conceding two soft tries in the second half it was a solid performance from the lads who are looking to kick on in the coming weeks and string a good run of results together instead of being inconsistent losing a game then winning one.

Coaches Allan Coleman & Paul Whitworth will be forced into making at least three changes this weekend with both wingers Andrew Groves and Jack Probert being away for the weekend and Tom Farrimond missing out through injury. Coming back into contention for a place in the side are Kieran Eccleston Martin Gray Danny Jones and youngster Jake Waterworth.

Skirlaugh go into Saturdays encounter without a win to their name so far this season in the league having lost all four matches so far, they have started the last three seasons in a similar fashion where they have struggled to pick up victories early on in the campaign and with four clubs going down from the top flight this year they will be hoping that changes at the weekend with a win over Miners to move them away from the bottom of the table and kick start their season.

UNFORTUNATELY THERE WILL BE NO MATCHCAST UPDATES THIS WEEK WITH JEFF GORSE BEING AWAY FOR THE WEEKEND.

Leigh Miners 2nd team are at home on Saturday against Portico Vine in the league, Kick off 2-30pm at Twist Lane.

The u18s are away at Wigan St Pats on Saturday in the league, Kick off 1pm at Clarington Park.
