Leigh Miners will be looking to make home advantage count on Saturday when they play their first home game in six weeks against a winless Skirlaugh in Round 6 of the NCL, Kick off 2-30pm at Twist Lane.

At this early stage of the season it is a massive game for Miners as they look to end a disappointing run of results which has seen them drop into the bottom three after three successive league defeats away from home. After raising their game in the Challenge Cup game at Barrow two weeks ago all the hard work and confidence gained from that game was quickly undone with a poor performance last weekend away at Myton Warriors.

Coaches Allan Coleman & Paul Whitworth will be looking for a good response from the lads this week after they were given a good dressing down last week at Myton followed by a tough physical session at training on Tuesday. Martin Lewis returns to the side after missing the last couple of games through injury along with hooker Joe Harrison who comes into the seventeen after impressing for the second team in recent weeks. Miners will be without Ross Bradley Lee Gittins Danny Jones Sean Pendlebury and John Woods due to injury and full back Jonny Youds who is away in Scotland on a golfing holiday.

Skirlaugh are currently bottom of the NCL having lost all four of their league games so far this season but after being narrowly defeated late on last weekend against Thatto Heath they will feel their first win is not far off and with Miners being out of form Skirlaugh will be coming to Twist Lane confident of picking up their first two points of the season which would lift them off the foot of the table
