Leigh Miners travel to relegation threatened Oulton Raiders on Saturday in a rearranged NCL Round 3 fixture, Kick off 2-30pm at Raider Park. It’s a big game for both clubs with both needing the two points for different reasons, Oulton needing to win most of their last five games if not all five to stand any chance of remaining in the top flight and Miners looking for a sixth successive victory to keep them on track for a top six finish.

Miners go into the game freshened up after last week’s game at West Hull was postponed when the coach broke down on M62 giving the lads an extra weeks rest but that now leaves them with a fixture backlog in October. Ross Bradley and Darryl Kay both return to the squad after being unavailable last week, leaving only John Woods missing through injury.

When the two teams met at Twist Lane in July Miners ran out 40-8 winners, it will surely be much closer than that this time around with Oulton scrapping away at the foot of the table looking to avoid the drop and go into the game on the back of a moral boosting 42-12 home win against Ince Rose Bridge last weekend.

The second team are away to Chorley Panthers in the League, Kick off 2-30pm.
