WIGAN ST PATS (AWAY)
Leigh Miners make the short trip across the borough on Thursday night to take on local rivals Wigan St Pats in Round 4 of the NCL to kick start an action packed Easter weekend of rugby league, Kick off 7-30pm at Clarington Park.
Both teams go into Thursday’s clash freshened up and ready to go after all of last weekend’s NCL fixtures were postponed due to the snow. Games between St Pats and Miners are always tough tight encounters and that should be no different on Thursday as both clubs have big ambitions of challenging for silverware this year, so an early season derby victory would send them in the right direction towards the top of the table.
Coaches Allan Coleman & Paul Whitworth have added Todd Appleby Ross Bradley Andrew Groves and Steven Marsh to the squad that travelled to Cumbria as Miners look to get back to winning ways with a strong performance after being well beaten 36-6 at Egremont two weeks ago. Shaun Marsh Dave Rowlands and John Woods miss the game through injury.
St Pats will be looking to record back to back wins having picked up their first win of the season two weeks ago at York Acorn and should have ex miners half back Ryan Smith available to play against his old club along with Lyndon Robertson who moved to Wigan in the off season from Leigh East
