Miners Alliance enjoyed a tremendous success last weekend against old foes Latchford Albion as they won 32-18 in Warrington to remain third in the Division Two table, six points off Halton Farnworth Hornets, whom they visit tomorrow. This was a fine win against a very strong Albion side who sit in fourth spot. Tries came from Andy Newton (two), Scott Travis, Gareth Pain, Steven Grundy and Steve Tooze. Todd Appleby kicked three goals and Tom Warburton one, whilst the in-form Grundy claimed another match award.

The women’s team were also celebrating as they beat Chorley Panthers 28-20 at Twist Lane last Sunday, tries from Elaine Mullen (two), Claire Thompson, Rachel Thompson (two) and Kerry Clayton (two) helping them to a fine success. The women climb above their opponents by virtue of that win and now sit fourth in the table with their next game not until September.
