Leigh Miners make the short trip across the borough on Saturday to take on local rivals Ince Rose Bridge in Round 12 of the Kingstone Press Cider National Conference League Division One, Kick off 2-30pm at Pinfold Street.

Miners go into Saturday’s derby clash on the back of six successive victories with the most recent being an hard fought 27-22 home win in front of the television cameras last weekend against a good Milford Marlins outfit. The win keeping Miners in third position on 16 points, two points behind with a game in hand of current leaders Lock Lane.

This week Miners know they are going to be in for a tough physical game as they always are at Rose Bridge and with heavy rain forecast for Saturday which will make the playing conditions greasy, the lads know they will have to respect the ball more than they have been doing and be strong in defence all across the park if they want to stretch their winning run to seven matches.

Coach Dave Rowlands is forced into making three changes from the side that beat Milford last weekend, with Lewis Grimes, Owen Johnson and Elliot Liku coming into the side for Craig Ashall who is serving a one match suspension after being sent off for the second team a few weeks ago, Louie Brogan who drops back down to the u18s for their National Cup semi final on Sunday and Rob Crompton who misses out due to a shoulder injury.

Ince Rose Bridge go into Saturday’s game on the back of a 22-8 defeat at second place Thornhill Trojans last weekend, a youthful Bridge side which had a good number of u18s players in the side put up a good showing and was leading 8-6 at the break, before going down to the high flying Dewsbury outfit in the second period. Rose Bridge will no doubt have a few bodies back this weekend as they will be looking to get one back over the Miners after being beaten 30-6 earlier in the season at Twist Lane.

Lee Pugsley’s second team are at home against Latchford Albion on Saturday afternoon in the league, Kick off 2-30pm at Twist Lane.

The u18s play their biggest game of the season to date on Sunday when they entertain Lock Lane in the semi final of the National Cup, Kick off 1pm at Twist Lane.

Leigh Miners Ladies are away at Barrow Ladies on Sunday in Round 7 of the Women’s Championship, Kick off 2pm.

The u14s girls team are at home on Saturday morning against West Leeds Eagles, Kick off 10-30am at Twist Lane

The u12s girls team are away at Headingley Hawks on Saturday morning, Kick off 11-30am.
